Cyma @ Ayala Center, Cebu

If you're looking for good Greek and Mediterranean cuisine in Cebu, then I would definitely suggest Cyma at Ayala Center. This sure works for my personal cravings!

We arrived at Cyma Sunday early evening (around 6pm) with no reservations. The man at the front graciously opened the door and greeted us, "Welcome back Sir, Mam" with a big smile. About 3 tables were occupied, several under reservation, but we were able to sit right away and even asked to have 2 tables be connected. When we were there, the place wasn't fully packed but we left around 7:30pm so it could have packed up then. I think about 30-40 people can be accommodated in Cyma.

One of the many reasons why I love Cyma is that they have a lot of food choices, as well as drink selections. There is something for everyone in the family. We are currently cutting off Pork and Beef this Lenten season, but it was quite easy to choose something else from their menu.

As soon as we were done choosing our food, my daughter and I went to use the comfort room. I cringed when I saw that it was a mixed bathroom. I like it better when it is separated; one for men, another for women. But then again, it does take more space. The comfort room was clean and most importantly did not smell bad. There was tissue, soap, and working water. However, the men's service was out of order.

I've never been to Greece (it is on my top list though!) personally, but I've seen shows, movies, and documentaries about it so I have a little feeling of how Greece would look like. The blue and white decors at Cyma really works with the whole Greek theme. Even the way the waiters are dressed look very "Mediterranean-style". To add to that, if you order their flaming signature dishes, the servers will shout "Opa! which in Greece is an exclamation for joy or excitement. I love this!

Another big plus is how the establishment caters to families and children. They have baby high chairs on-hand and even provide young children with coloring papers and crayons. Our servers gave my daughter coloring paper twice! They are also very pleasant and friendly with children. The place is really clean. When the servers aren't busy taking orders or serving food, they occupy their selves with cleaning the place (front doors, windows, aircon). They are always doing something but are quite responsive when called too!

We eat out a lot so by now I'd like to think I know the difference between bad and good service. Service at Cyma is great! Yes, the bill comes with a service charge which is about 10%, but we did leave a little something something. Our food and bill was served at a reasonable amount of time, not too much waiting. And they waited for us to finish our appetizers before serving our entrees. Some would argue that the food is pricey, which it really is. It's definitely not a place we go to every week but the food quality and service is worth it.
