Tinder Box, Cebu

Before I start posting about our beach getaway, let me start the Easter entries with the first meal we had for the day.

After waking up unusually early on a Sunday morning and going to Easter mass, we debated on where to go for breakfast. I wanted something filling that would make us last past lunch. I thought Jollibee would be perfect and we could always order an extra meal or two to bring with us at the hotel.

My dad wanted to pass by Tinder Box on the way home from church to pick up some cold cuts and pica-pica to bring at the beach. Tinder Box is located in Banilad. It is sophisticated but at the same time comfortable. It serves food for dining in and also sells international delicacies. There is a wide variety to choose from their shop; they have lots of chocolates, candies, fresh vegetables, frozen items, vitamins, pastas, pates, spreads, drinks, nuts, and more. There is also a chilled are with steaks, beef, fish, sausages, lamb and many many kinds of cheese.

Father loves to buy cheese and charcuterie (cold cuts in French) here. But it is pricey, so be prepared to spend! On the other side, there is 3 separate areas. One area if for the regular dining clients, separated by a glass wall is the smoking area, and on the right is the wine chilled area. As expected, they have a wide display of wines and alcoholic drinks to choose from.

While we sat down and ordered our food, I excused myself to wash my hands and my daughter's hands in the comfort room. Although a bit warm, it was well-equipped with running water, hand soap, and an ample supply of tissue. It was a separated bathroom, was clean, and had decorations.

Tinder Box theme leans on the industrial look with wood touches like in the shelves and counters. On the walls, there are pictures of French famous landmarks. Each tables are covered with colored place mats. They don't have baby high chairs, but then again I don't get the family-friendly/child-friendly vibe from this place. My daughter is pretty behaved when we go out, but I'm extra careful here especially with the sharp edges of the tables and the easy-to-reach products.

I wasn't sure if I should write this next thing, but then again this is the second time this happened to us so I will. Like I mentioned, Dad bought some cheese and cold cuts. When we were leaving, he checked his receipt but forgot to check the shopping bag's content. We were already on our way home, when I noticed that there was P300 worth of cold cuts missing (although it was marked in the receipt!). We went back and apparently our cold cuts were given to another customer. Thankfully, the customer was having breakfast in the smoking area, so the attendant was quick to get it back to us. I don't know what it means about the serivce, but it is the second time for us!

Next post, the food....
