These pictures were taken last January 2011 when we went on a family vacation with my in-laws. My sister-in-law, MJ, who works in the Qatar came home for the holidays and we went to Iloilo and Boracay for a couple of days.
There are changes yearly, but my husband and I still love exploring Boracay. Sure, there are more people now as it has gained more and more popularity through the years. But we like that we can stay at a hotel and not be restricted to stay there all through the vacation. Everything is just within walking distance and there are a lot of fun things to do in the island!
Of course the beach is the main event. White, powdery sand and clear waters. Watch our daughter, SM, her 2 cousins, and their grandpa enjoying the waters and sand! They could stay in the water all-day long if they could! Just as we like to lie down on beach lounges and take occasional dips in the water.
I rarely every see a sunrise and sunset back home in the City. So it is a great pleasure to catch one here. And they are beautiful!
If you want a change from swimming and lying under the sand, you can always go shopping! D'Mall and Talipapa are 2 great places to do that. It's outdoor shopping at it's best. There are great places to see and eat!
Talking about eating. Here's a picture of a French dish I come back for time after time. This is a Bouillabaisse, or a Fish and Seafood Stew. This can be found at Chez De Paris, which is a French restaurant and hotel located in Station 2. We love this place! The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The French owner is often seen at the dining hall roaming around the place.
This my husband and I after eating a great meal at Chez De Paris. Pardon the oily faces. Hehehe. First day in, and we're already all tanned up!
At night, there's just as much activity as duringthe day. Here are fire dancers which can be found all over the beach strip. It's always impressive to watch. After dinner, we like to walk around and see what's happening. At 15, we liked to drink ourselves till drunk and partying or listening to acoustic music. At 25, we don't enjoy the same things anymore, well except the acoustic music part and drinking (just not until drunk!).
This is the officials of Boracay making a way to preserve the place. Good job!
My sisters-in-law and I bought new slippers in Iloilo. My pair are the red ones. I got a matching pair for SM, while my other sister-in-law got 2 green pairs for her sons.
Perfect for a hot afternoon! We found this place in D'Mall and MR bought a huge bowl for us to enjoy. I'm coming back for more of this! Loved the fresh fruits!
There are many activities in the island. One of them is Island Hopping. We've done this several times. But last January, the weather was shaky so the island hopping places was limited.
But we were still able to snorkel!
And see the beautiful places that are not in the beach strip!
This is our daughter, SM, thoroughly enjoying the beach and sand of Boracay. This is the reason why we're coming back in a month. Just in time for her 3rd birthday!
Side Story:
I asked my daughter where she wants to go for her birthday this year.
Jollibee or Boracay?
She answers me: Jolli-Cay :D (yes! with a matching huge grin!)
LOL
