I feel like a Filipino party is never complete without Lechon Baboy / Filipino Whole Roasted Pig. While attending parties or fiestas, the Lechon is the first thing I will look for at the buffet table. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way too.☺
When I host a party, I like to buy a Lechon. For some reason, I feel like even if there's a lot of food but no Lechon, it's still not enough. And I also feel like if there's a Lechon, I don't need to prepare as many dishes. I don't know how I got that notion, but it's always been that way for me.
For this party, we decided to buy the Lechon from Alejo's for the first time. Usually, we are strictly CNT Lechon people, but for no particular reason we decided for some change this time. I knew it wouldn't be bad change though because Alejo's does have a very good reputation in the Cebu Lechon world. Alejo's Lechon is located in El Salvador Extension, Labangon Cebu City. It's a long way from our house, but MR had to go there to pay half before the party. The whole Lechon we got cost P2,600 (with free delivery), and we were told it could feed 15-20 persons. It definitely did and we still had leftovers! I was afraid that their might be problems with the delivery but it was delivered on time. The Lechon skin was still super crispy and the meat, so tender! And not too salty too. Their lechon was short but big and chubby. I was afraid it might be fatty, but it really wasn't. I think we may have found a new "lechon suki" for upcoming parties.
*MR mentioned that Alejo's Lechon was very nice to look at at the buffet table. Short and chubby lechon is in, tall and skinny lechon is out!
