Today, I am home alone. Well, not exactly. The dog is here with me too. And my brother-in-law comes time to time to get something quick. But my nephew is working in another farm, my niece's vacation has ended and she started school this morning, and my sister is at work. I preoccupy ,yself by going room to room, opening the windows to let fresh air in the house and doing household chores. It is pretty quiet, although the dog can be a little be naughty and hard-headed at times. LOL.
For lunch today, I am cooking for myself and sharing with the dog. My sister told me last night that she had a couple of pieces of white fish in the freezer and I thought it was perfect. I quickly thought of what I could do for myself. I wanted something that reminded of home, though I have to admit I haven't been missing Filipino cuisine yet. I believe in due time it will come though. In seasoning, all I had in hand was half a small bottle of soy sauce, so I went with a mixture of red onion and tomatoes, sauteed with a little oil, seasoned with soy sauce and the fish pieces. A little salt and pepper. And because nothing says home like rice, I made some. My sister has a stock of Uncle Ben's. Although Uncle Ben's does not compare to the rice we have back home, I like it. I find that the rice back home is more plump and fluffy. But the best part of the meal was being able to use a spoon and fork. LOL.
I haven't missed the food yet, but the spoon I have! -French people use a fork and a knife to eat-
