Chicken Afritada
Remember how I made White Chicken Adobo the other night? Well, seems like I made a mistake. I was supposed to use boneless chicken thigh fillets for that. But when I asked MR to thaw out chicken from the freezer I guess he got confused and put out the chicken thighs (bone-in). Instead of putting it back in the freezer (safety precautions), I just used that in the White Chicken Adobo dish.

Oyster Mushroom and Asparagus Stir-Fry
My daughter, SM, absolutely loves mushrooms! All kinds of mushrooms! I love asparagus! So it only makes sense that I would buy mushrooms and asparagus every time I go grocery shopping. We eat a lot of these two and I always try to find new ways to make them. This particular dish I made is great with just about any other vegetable combinations. You may also add your choice of proteins, if you prefer.

Japanese-Inspired Potato and Egg Salad
This recipe came about for 2 reasons. One, I wanted something to complement the sandwiches I made. I thought about how Cafe Georg serve their sandwiches with a siding of Potato Salad and I love that! And Two, I wanted to use the Ebiko I bought. So, there it is: Japanese-Inspired Potato and Egg Salad.
Shopping Bag: Ebiko
I am very excited to announce that I found Ebiko (yay!!!) , which is frozen seasoned capelin roe. I believe it is also known as Tobiko. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I found this at the frozen section in the supermarket of Gaisano Country Mall at a reasonable price! I picked up this pack and flashes of California Maki entered my mind. This is a good day. ☺

Leftover Chicken + Cheese + Tomato Sandwich
My Mother-in-law lent me her Sandwich Maker yesterday. I've been bugging my husband to buy me one, but he's always refused saying that we have too many kitchen appliances already. Actually, he prefers we buy a Panini Maker which, let's face it, is costly. So while saving up for that, I am going to enjoy the borrowed Sandwich Maker.

Getting Our Dream Landscape
My husband and I like to stay at night in bed and daydream about our “dream house”. As much as possible, we’d like something we design from scratch. And as much as we have contradicting ideas on the design, we both agree on a simple home but with a spacious garden. Problem is, we never seem to know exactly where we would start to design it. Too many ideas and pictures come to mind. At landscape designer, you are provided with endless ideas and possibilities to achieve that dream garden. Not only can you work with a really good landscape designer, but you can work with designers from all over the world! Just imagine the different influences and inspirations, you are only bound to get something great!

White Chicken Adobo
There are many ways of cooking Filipino Adobo. And not just with the sauce (with soy sauce, without soy sauce, with oyster sauce, without oyster sauce, with coconut milk, without coconut milk, and so on and so forth), but also the protein. You can make Adobo with any kind of meat, sometimes mixed, seafood, and even just tofu for the vegetarians. I've certainly made it different ways too, experimenting here and there. Tonight I had to decide on what to make with the chicken thighs I thawed out. And I had to make something really quick because we were joining my father-in-law in Ayala Center to watch a a film at the French Film Festival. We're watching Le Marquis again. :)

Gelatissimo, Ayala Center Cebu
In my opinion, Gelatissimo is the best ice cream parlor place in Cebu. I love having a cup of Gelatissimo ice cream at the end of a meal, which is what we usually do when we are having dinner at Ayala Center. The price may be steep for ice cream considering that the price of 2 scoops can buy a liter of a local ice cream. But I love the rare choices they have (Coconut & Lime=Yum!, Green Apple=Yum Yum!) and I always make sure to get something new every time!

Dinner @ Sbarro, Ayala Center Cebu
We had already made plans of eating at Sbarro tonight. So after the movie was finished, we just knew where we were having dinner. It's been a long time since we've had a meal at Sbarro and I wanted to see what they were up to.

French Film Festival 2011
I can't believe I almost forgot about this event! But it's still on its second day so I haven't missed much. Thankfully, the film I was excited about is still showing today and tomorrow too!

Pareng Vic's Carenderia a.k.a Hi-Blood Station
I have universal taste. I can eat with the best of them at fine and formal restaurants; dishes that shockingly cost P3,000+ each. But I also love eating cheap but homey food. And nothing spells this like food I grew up with. These are the days when I miss my mama the most.

Garlic Shrimps and Mushrooms
After months of not going to Rustan's Supermarket, we finally decided to see what was new after we got a phone call by one of their promo agents. We were surprisingly happy to see that they now have French products again! We definitely stocked up!

Uno at Waterfront Hotel Lahug, Cebu
With the many many options of places to eat at this Father's Day, we definitely had a hard time choosing where to go. Our original plans of going swimming today was abruptly canceled because of the pouring rain, but nothing could ruin our mood because what really matters is the company and nothing beats being with one's family!

Penne Pasta with a Creamy Tomato and Ham Sauce
Sadly, we have no meat, fish, or seafood in our refrigerator. This means it is time to go shopping again which we are going to do tomorrow at Rustan's Supermarket Cebu, mostly because we got a phone call from them regarding their ongoing promo. We had original planned on going to SnR next week, but I guess that will depend on how shopping goes tomorrow.

Friday night usually means: Delivery night and a movie at home! After the recent failed McDonald's delivery, we decided to stay clear of that for now.So it was goodbye (for now) burgers and fries and hello to Chinese fast food!

Cheeseburgers
I am back! Back as in feeling better, feeling completely better! Yes, I am 100% flu-free! And I am in the mood to cook! I have my full energy back and I want to sweat it in the kitchen cooking for my family. The first in the list of order is making MR some homemade cheeseburgers to make up for the horrible burgers we had from McDonald's the other day.

Chicken Curry
For the longest time, I've always loved Chicken Curry. The spicier the better! The kind you find at Filipino eateries and restaurants. But it's only recently that I realized I've been loving the Filipino version of curry.

Husband's Cooking: Baby Back Ribs and Soup
MR is my knight in shining armor! Actually more like a knight with a wooden spoon. You see I got sick last week and until now I am not 100% fully-recovered. What is left with me now is a bad case of cough which I'm hoping will go away soon.

Sinigang na Manok / Chicken Sour Soup
Ever since I've made Sinigang Soup from scratch, I've stopped using the instant powder. The flavor is so much more intense and it's definitely a nice feeling knowing that I (and my family) am eating all-natural flavors.

Delivery: McDonald's, Cebu
I'm still feeling pretty bad. The fever has gone down, but I have bad colds and I can't wait for the cough to start kicking in (which usually happens on the third day). Oh joy!
So I'm still not in the mood to cook. If I could, I'd stay in bed all day long. But my annoying father (I love you Dad) insists that I eat something. We had soup last night and I kinda wanted something else tonight. And I was feeling so bad that I preferred if we had our food delivered rather than picked up by MR (so he could watch SM for me).

Food in the Streets : Dodong Pork Siomai
Since we've been going to Banilad Town Centre a lot this summer, I've noticed this food cart on the side of the street. Siomai has been made popular by the now widely known success of Siomai sa Tisa. In fact, within 5 minutes of our house, there is a store that sells Siomai sa Tisa which is great for last minute lunch. We've always been contented with their siomais but something about this food cart made us want to try.

Macaron Tango Cafe, Cebu
About 3 months ago, a new French Restaurant/Cafe opened in Cebu. Since then, we've been hearing about this little nook from newspapers, friend's photos, and facebook. Naturally, we were itching to go!

Kung Fu Panda 2 + Taters
Today is SM's last day at Gymboree Summer Gym Camp. We're gonna be on a 2 weeks break and then start nursery classes. As a way of letting SM know how proud we are of her, MR and I decided to bring her to watch a movie at the cinema. Kung Fu Panda 2 has been showing at the movie house for a week now. We were at Marco Polo Plaza last week, so this was our last chance to catch it in the movies.
