Sunday Lunch - The Day We Cooked For 12

It's Sunday today. Did you think we had guests over today? Well....you were right! Another Sunday, another lunch affair, and with 7 guests this time (we were 12 in total counting us 5). So what was our meal this time? Scroll down to find out!

But first, let me share with you the table. This time, we ate at the veranda, which is a closed-space. The weather was good today with a sunny sky, but not good enough to eat outdoors (it was about 9 degrees celsius outside!). I cannot wait for summer, I tell ya. So we prepared a table for 12 adults in purple colors. Very simple, but it was easy on the eye and presentable.

The day before, we started already with the little details. Little details like baking the Salted Palmiers, the Sweet Palmiers, and the desserts. The rest would be made on the day itself.

Because our guests are big drinkers, we brought out the big guns ~~ a Beer Machine, Champagne, Cremant, White Wine, Red Wine, Whisky, and Picon.

DO decided on adding a few things to the usual Aperitifs because she wasn't serving an entree. To the usual store-bought chips/peanuts/breadsticks, she added the homemade Salted Palmiers (made with puff pastry, tomato sauce, and cheese) and Saucisson Toasts (bread, butter, and saucisson).

Our main dish was Couscous Royale, which is one of my favorite dishes. Dad makes a killer Couscous Royale! This one was good, but not as good. He he he. This was fit to DO's taste as she isn't too into spice. I, on the other hand, love spices so I thought this was lacking, especially in the spice Ras El Hanout, which my dad always utilizes. It is up to you what kind of meat you want to add. DO had beef cuts and chicken simmering in the sauce. Dad likes to add meatballs and lamb cuts too. He likes to grill lamb chops on the side too.

Merguez Sausages are almost always grilled and served with Couscous. These are made with beef and lamb meat and are spicy. Because DO doesn't like its taste, she also grilled some Chipolata Sausages, which are made of pork meat and aren't spicy.

Ever present at the meal - Green Salad with Vinaigrette and a Platter of Cheese.

The meal did not end here yet. But I was caught busy preparing and presenting the desserts that I totally forgot to take a photo and when I finally thought of doing that, everybody had started digging in. What a shame as they were beautiful. We made several little dessert for everyone to enjoy. Earlier I mentioned that I made Sweet Palmiers which was served in a tray. But we also had little platters of Caramelized Buttered Apples, White Chocolate Mousse, and Strawberry Smoothie (un delice!).
