Valentine's Day Dinner at Home

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, FRIENDS!!! <3 <3 <3

I could have been depressed today, I could have been crying, I could have drunk myself to sleep. I could have done all of those things, but I didn't. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided I would just let this day pass despite what it was. But it wasn't like I wasn't busy today, which helped a lot admitedly. I woke up this morning to find that my family back in Cebu was waiting to talk to me. While I was just starting my day, they were already starting to end theirs.

My sister and brother-in-law who came back from a pre-valentines weekend together decided they would tighten the purse strings and stay home this evening. They had one condition though. My niece would prepare a nice little meal for all of us. I had to help her though. My valentine's morning started with facetime with my daughter, then my husband, and then my dad. They had decided to stay at home too. And then sometime near noon, my niece MO came knocking on my door telling me she was going grocery shopping for tonight's dinner. I went with her as I took the opportunity to shop for some things I will feature in this blog soon.

The preparation for tonight's special menu took the whole afternoon, I swear. All that hard work for the preparation and when you think about it, takes seconds to eat. We made everything from scratch, like the French like to say "On a fait tout de A a Z!".

Love Forever Cocktails - made with vodka, grapefruit syrup, and cherry syrup. The glass rims were dipped in sugar for an extra touch.

Entree - Mixture of diced cooked shrimps, diced grapefruit, diced smoked salmon in a white cheese / fromage blanc and dill dressing and then rolled in a slice of smoked salmon.

Plat Principal - Fillet of breaded sole, fried and drizzled with lemon juice, creamed leeks, and a puree of broccoli and potato. (excuse me for the flashy photo)

Cheese and Salad - another bad flashy photo. Slices of Caprice des Dieux cheese with Mache Salad in a Vinaigrette Dressing.

Dessert - Chocolate Molten Cake with a Raspberry Coulis and a glass of Mixed Fruit Salad (Pineapple, Banana, Clementine, Kiwi, and Lychee)

While the lovers ate together at the prepared dining table, the cooks / servers (MO, KE - the farm intern, and I) ate in the kitchen with less presentable plates. He he he. Whole day of cooking, an hour to eat, and an eternity later to clean up! Ha ha ha!
