Sunday Lunch - Time for a Barbeque?

I've been told that winter this year was nothing like in the previous years. This year, we had very little snow but it's also been icing cold for a looonnnnggg period of time! This has cost my brother-in-law as well as other agriculteurs in the region to lose a lot of their crops. They say that the snow would have been able to act as a protection to  the crops, but unfortunately snow was close to nothing. It isn't spring yet, but the weather has been very cooperative, giving us degrees that we normally shouldn't be having yet. And the sun, what a delight! To this came the idea of having a barbeque for today's lunch. Except that the whole week was announced for a sunny week except for SUNDAY! Hmpfff...

DO invited her accountants and their husbands for lunch. One accountant is for the farm, the other is for my sister's bookstore. Both women are good friends. Aperitifs was as usual. Your choice of alcoholic drinks - Picon, Beer, and Cremant D'Alsace, or non-alcoholic drinks - Coke, Orange Juice, and Sparkling Water. Our finger food were Roasted Peanuts, Salted Pretzels, Bacon-Flavored Chips, Cherry Tomato and Cubed Cheese Sticks, and Mini Puffs Stuffed with Scallops.

It was raining a bit - but we pushed through with the barbeque. The plate above has Merguez Sausages, Chipolata Sausages, and Pork Strips. Not in photo were these amazing T-Bone Steaks from TH's cow. I mentally slapped myself once for not taking a picture of those steaks! These were nothing like I've ever had in Cebu. They were huge! One T-Bone Steak could easily feed 4 people. TH had them perfectly grilled, still reddish in the middle, and oh-so-tender! Too good!

To go with the meats, DO prepared different salads - Carrot Salad, Potato Salad, Celeriac Salad, and Cucumber Salad.

For a first, we had cheese without a green salad. I am still on my Lenten sacrifice of no-cheese, so definitely no-cheese for me!

Our dessert were the Cookies I made the night before and a quick Fruit Salad.

Despite the weather, the meal went great. We had anticipated to eat indoors anyways, so the slight pour of rain did not ruin our day. Late afternoon, the skies cleared up and we took the guests for a walk at the farm to see the cows.
