I am in the final steps of having my newly-bought car certified to my name and I have to hurry if I don't want to be penalized. I've already decided that once I would be done with the purchasing of the car and transferring it to my name, I would dedicate one whole post on how to purchase a car in France for all those interested to buy. I'm hoping this will help some of you.
Early this morning, I hurried to catch the 11AM train ride to Metz, France to pay my Carte Grise. A Carte Grise is the car's paper and you always have to have it with you when driving your car. Today, I went to the Prefecture of Metz to pass my completed documents and pay for the new carte. I was also told I would have to change my car's license plates to the newer version. Another thing to pay (I hope this will end soon!). By the time I was done and after what seemed like a long bus ride, I was back at the train station hoping to catch my 12:55PM train ride home. Unfortunately, I was 10 minutes too late! I had to wait for another 2 hours for the next train ride. Not wanting to walk to the city center and spend my precious money on another bus ride, I took my time to look through the train station's stores and sit on what is what I call my personal seat in the waiting area of the station. I swear I must have sat at that seat for at least 24 hours total ever since I've been taking train rides here! I remember freezing my ass off at times too! Memories, not all good, but still memories!
After what seemed like an hour, I decided it was time to have me some lunch. I am proud to say that I am starting to know the area quite well. And with just 10€ in my pocket, I know which restaurants I can go into and not. Earlier this month, I mentioned this place called Picnics (click here for the post) which I had lunch at. I knew that was one of the places I could get something with the little money I had. It wouldn't be a full set meal, but I should seriously think about shedding some more pounds anyways. Did I tell you that I already lost about 10 kilos since I arrived in France? It's unbelievable! (and I haven't been eating bad ha!).
I know that in my first Picnics post, I wrote something about what I wanted my next Picnics meal to be. Well, since I didn't have any more money than the last time, this was restrained. I got a salad plus a canned drink. I probably could have gotten a smoothie though! Darn! Next time, next time!
When I got into Picnics, it was already the middle of lunch break and the place was full! But since it's one of those places where you can eat sur place (dine-in) or a emporter (to go), I went with the latter and remembered that nice little bench right outside the train station.
Blanc de Poulet et ses Legumes Secs Saladette
Ingredients: Blanc de Poulet, Boulgour, Quinoa Bio, Lentilles Vertes, Raisin Secs, Duo de Poivron
Vinaigrette: Huile d'Olive, Miel, et Vinaigre Balsamique
Chicken Breast and Dried Legumes Salad
Ingredients: Chicken Breast, Bulgur, Bio Quinoa, Green Lentils, Dried Raisins, 2 kinds of Bell Peppers
Dressing: Olive Oil, Honey, and Balsamic Vinegar
The salad was something I had previously eyed and wanted to try even though it wasn't my usual choice. I am a firm believer that I should try everything at least once and then decide whether I like it or not. This was my first time to try Bulgur and Quinoa, and although I didn't dislike it, I'm not sure I'd jump for joy in ordering this the next time. The dressing, on the other hand, I loved very much because I haven't had that kind in a long time and I love Balsamic Vinegar. Even with honey, the dressing wasn't too sweet. This was a salad I really wanted to try, but for the life of me I cannot tell you why I ordered a canned Iced Tea for my drink. Before anything else, I just want to say that I like Iced Tea, but I never ever drink it out of a can. I'm weird like that. And I find that it never really quenches my thirst. A bottle of water, a soda drink, or even a fresh fruit smoothie would have been better. Gggrrrrr! How many times do you think I can mentally kick myself?!?
