McBaguette at McDonald's in Saint Avold, France
I woke up this morning with the idea of going on a road trip. What's the point of having a car if I don't take it out on longer trips once in a while? Anyways, my plans for the day was go to mass and then return home. My niece, MO, was preparing lunch as she was having friends over to celebrate a birthday. As the hours passed, the thought of spending my lunch and afternoon at home sounded less and less appealing. Not that I have anything against them, but I had the desire of going away. But where could I possibly go when everything is quiet and closed on a Sunday?! As much as I wanted to go away, I didn't want to drive 50 kilometers to Metz either. And then it hit me. I could go to Saint Avold (32 kms away) - McDonald's for lunch and then maybe a stroll through the city hoping something would be opened.
Le McBaguette has just arrived in McDonald's France and has people talking. My dad, who is halfway around the world, has even asked me if I had the chance to try it!
Le McBaguette cost 4.30€ alone, without the drinks and fries. It was served in a brown paper wrapper, very typical of the way take-out sandwiches are served in France. No surprise here, but it didn't look as it was presented in commercials. It was way smaller! The sandwich was made of baguette (although it looked and tasted more like a Ciabatta), Burger Steak, Emmenthal Cheese, Lettuce, and Mustard Sauce (a very strong mustard sauce!).
