Girolles / Chanterelles / Jaunettes Mushrooms
Last night, we lost the dog again! It was even harder this time as it was the second time! While eating dinner, we realized that the dog had managed to sneak out of the house. She had no electronic collar on her and she wasn't even wearing her usual collar which had her name and the telephone number at home. After several tries of calling her and whistling, there was no sign of her - we were worried! It was raining pretty hard as MO and I took the car and went around. We even went to nearby villages - but no signs of the damn dog!
It was during our second try of going around when we decided to go home. We were frightened, but when we got home, the dog was safely home. Turns out, she saw PH (*) going to the forest and followed him there and back. PH was going to the forest to search for fresh mushrooms and handpick them. We were so relieved to see her back home safe, although she was really wet - and a wet dog really stinks, don't you think?!
These are called Girolles, Chanterelles, or Jaunette mushrooms around here. I know them as Girolles, which is quite expensive at supermarkets! I am at task of cooking them for dinner. I've wiped them clean and cut the ends, but have no idea how to make them. Maybe I'll go my traditional way of sauteeing them with butter, garlic, parsley, and a little cream. Or maybe in a nice egg omelette. Hmmm, that I'll have to decide soon!
*PH is married to my brother-in-law's sister.
