Picking Fresh Strawberries in the Backyard Garden

Every month of June, my sister has a beautiful garden with strawberries. My sister isn't the gardener-type, unlike a lot of women in the region. For the many women that I've come to know here, gardening is a passion and a way of life. And who can blame them, I reckon it is a luxury to be able to grab your own fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs from the backyard. DO might not appreciate her garden, but I sure am seeing myself having one in the foreseeable future!

This year, my nephew tried his hand in planting several vegetables like tomatoes and potatoes. Those he carefully followed and had the soil labored before planting. On the other side of the garden, there is an area that remains untouched. It is so because every single year in June, beautiful strawberries start to grow on its own. It is beautiful - the way they start growing from nothing and no maintenance needed! And the number of it all is amazing! It is truly a pleasure to go strawberry-picking in the backyard.

Here's the first handful I managed to pick. I think I must have been too excited for my first time because I see a couple of white-tipped ones here. Strawberries are best when they are red all over. By the way, did you know that the strawberry is the only fruit with its seed on the exterior??? The ones above need a good rinse and cleaning, but we all know what we're having for dessert tonight! Handpicked strawberries from the backyard - now, just saying that makes feel giddy! Hahahaha! Excuse the weirdness! :)
