Avocado, Crabstick, Tuna, Eggs, and Mayonnaise

It's one of those mornings where general cleaning of the house consumes most of our time and we are left thinking at the last minute what to make for lunch. Especially when there is a hungry working man that comes at noon. We look at the refrigerator and there's not much there unfortunately. It's too late to thaw out some meat, poultry, or fish. What to do, what to do?!

Restaurant L'Embellie at Dieuze, France

When I found out that my sister DO and I would be alone for lunch today I insisted we eat out for lunch. She hesitated, but I insisted even more! My brother-in-law would be on his last hunting session of the season and out the whole day and instead of staying home and cook, I wanted to go out. I offered to pay for lunch and off we were to Dieuze to try one of DO's regular lunch place. But as we stepped out of the house, it started snowing, but never mind I told myself nothing was gonna stop us now. La la la! He he he! :)

Beef Stew

I am jealous of my sister because she has good beef meat all year long! Oh the advantage of having a big farm! Whenever they have enough clients, they just kill a cow and always keep a little meat for themselves. There are three freezers at my sister's house and you can be sure they are all full. This lunch, instead of the usual steak or burger patty, DO felt like making a beef dish with sauce. Something like Boeuf / Beef Bourguignon. But not exactly like it either.

Arroz Caldo

This dish reminds me so much of my husband back home that making it brought me a lot of joy. After 3 months of being away from him and the Philippines, I've come to appreciate little things like this. Lately, I've been feeling a little under the weather. I've been coughing, probably from the cold temperature that's slowly approaching and the virus that is in the air. My sister, nephew, and my brother-in-law have colds and cough too. So after opening all the windows at home this morning, I decided to make me what I call my comfort food when I'm sick.

Arizona Bankruptcy Lawyers

Nowadays, I think it is essential for one to have a good lawyer to consult for reasons we have in life. I know a friend who was going through something personal in his life and didn’t know how to go about it. We advised him to go to a reputable lawyer and months later we were relieved to see him go through what he was going through quite easily.
Being of a certain age, I can now fully understand the value of money and its necessity. We strive everyday to make enough to go through the days of our lives. Some go to work early morning and come back late at night and others slave day after day to built their own businesses and make an earning. But what happens when it just isn’t enough and you have nothing to turn on to? I say consult good Bankruptcy Lawyers. I am an educated woman, but I do have to admit that faced with financial challenges I don’t think I would know exactly what to do. Thankfully for those living in the state of Arizona, there is an arizona bankruptcy attorney I can recommend, specifically a Phoenix Bankruptcy AttorneySo whether you have financial issues or not, don’t hesitate to contact them, I’ll leave the contact details below.

La Raclette

One dish that I've probably had the most since I arrived here is La Raclette. In a month, I think we prepare it at least twice. And that's at home, I'm not talking about the times we've had it at people's houses. In fact we had some at a friend's house last night.

Shopping Bag: Mache

Like the cheese, France has a lot of selections when it comes to its salads. In Cebu, I could find Lettuce, Romaine, and Arugula Salad regularly (and endives in Manila). Arugula Salad was my favorite, but move over Arugula, I found a new favorite: La Mache!

Shopaholic's Corner : Eram's Classique Habill Ferme Shoes

Bummed that I am not in Cebu to celebrate Sinulog with my family, I will instead write about my latest sale shopping find. This will put me out of my misery, I hope.

Tarte aux Tomates

I just want to share quickly a dish DO made when her mother-in-law came over for dinner one night: Tarte aux Tomates. This is one of the quickest and most simple recipe I've ever seen, but as simple as it was it did not disappoint!

English Tea Store

I like to end my day with a cup of good hot tea. But I have to admit that it isn’t always easy to find good tea where I currently reside and where people usually like to drink coffee. And I don’t always have the time to go out and find some at the stores or nearby supermarkets. During the Christmas season, I found the time to go online and lo and behold I was able to find a website selling good English tea. The tea sets, gifts baskets, and accessories were gorgeous and perfect gifts for my friends, but I was more than happy to get some tea for myself, such as the black tea. This I definitely have a hard time to find! And with more searching and browsing through their websites, I found out that they also sell organic tea, which is even harder to find in stores here! Imagine my delight! They carry major brand names as well as their own! So if you’re like me and searching for good English Tea, please do not hesitate to check this out. I had to stop myself from getting a little of everything and reminded myself that I could get them one by one as it is online anyways and always available!

Bamboo Traiteur - Saveur D'Asie at Metz, France

On our way from the boutiques in Metz, we passed by Bamboo Traiteur - Saveur D'Asie, which offers Asian dishes for take-out. I looked at the dishes on display and couldn't resist from picking up something for me. I love my French family, but I don't know how they'd feel if I cooked Asian dishes in their kitchen, especially with fish sauce and spices.

Aux 5 Epis at Remilly, France

When we were done with our stuff in Metz, it was close to 2PM and I was a little hungry. No near restaurant was willing to cater to us at this hour. On our way home, Remilly was one of the villages we would pass through and DO wanted to do some grocery shopping at the Super U, which is a large supermarket. Beside the Super U, there was a little place called Aux 5 Epis and we stopped there to grab something simple to eat.

Shopping Bag: Paris Brest

This is my niece's favorite all-time dessert because of its praline cream. If I recall properly, this is also one of dad well-loved pastry, but one he hasn't had in a while! He's gonna be jealoussssss once he sees this! Bwahaha!

La Pierrade

For lunch today, DO put out a piece of meat which she thought were steaks, but ended up being a huge beef fillet. She sliced some pieces for the three of us at lunch, but there still was a huge piece left. She decided she would have a Pierrade with it for dinner. Actually it was a toss being a Fondue Bourguignon and the Pierrade, but since I've never had a Pierrade we went with the latter. And without all the oil in the Fondue, it was less calorific. Hehehe.

Shopping Bag: La Galette des Rois

Eating une Galette des Rois is a French tradition. La Galette des Rois is a dessert made of pate feuilletee / puff pastry bought and consumed during the Epiphany season (right after the new year). It is traditionally stuffed in almond paste, but it can be made of apple, apricot, chocolate, and more. It is baked until golden brown and it is delicious!

Pick-Me Up from Pizzeria Pippo @ Morhange, France

BAD NEWS: the job prospect fell through. I won't go into details because it's a long story. I went and worked like a maniac all day long and sadly I won't be coming back. It's a shame though because I would have loved to have a serious job right about now if I want my family to join me as soon as possible. So now I am back to looking for a job, posting, and praying that hopefully this is finally it.

Quick Breakfast at the Train Station of Luxembourg

So after a successful job interview yesterday, I found myself going back to Luxembourg today. This was my first official day at work and I was excited. So excited that I forgot to grab something to eat for breakfast before leaving the house. Anyways, I don't really like to eat at 7AM. But when I arrived at the Luxembourg train station at 9AM, I have to admit that my stomach was grumbling for food.

Chez Tai in Luxembourg

I'm hoping this new year will be a good year. It certainly is starting right as I got a call from a work agency to go to Luxembourg for a job interview and eventually start work. I was excited as this could mean a positive change and perhaps I might see my husband and daughter sooner than expected. Work at Luxembourg is my top choice right now as I don't have my French Security Social number yet - when is that gonna happen?!

Happy New Year ~ Bonne Annee

It is now time to turn the pages of 2011. The past year has been a good one and I hope the next year will be even better for us (as well as for you guys!). When I was young, I used to make resolutions (which I always failed to follow anyways), but now there is only thing I wish for. I wish for my family to join me here. This I won't fail to make come true! <3
