I wanted to eat out tonight. Dad wasn't really up for it. But I wanted to go out and I didn't want to leave him alone at home. So I told him we'd go somewhere close, in Marly, for example. There's a new restaurant that isn't too expensive that I saw on the side of the road and I thought we'd go check it out. Unfortunately, when we got there, all I saw told me that we had to get out of there. The place had a funky smell, it was dark, pipes were coming out of the walls, the bathroom door was wide open to the dining room - I just couldn't stay there. For a new place, it was really run-down. But we had to eat somewhere. SO was starting to complain of hunger, Dad also, and me too, honestly. So we went to a restaurant that was just on the other side of the road, a restaurant that we'd already eaten at - La Poelee at Marly in France.
La Poelee isn't a fancy or chic restaurant. It's the cafeteria-type or self-service. You grab a tray, utensils, and go around picking the plates of food you want to eat. Don't forget to pay, of course. The first time we ate here, the food was satisfactory, so never did I think we would have such a horrible dinner like we had tonight. It was horrible. HORRIBLE. Hands down, so far, the worst meal of the year, I believe.
Grilled Entrecote Steak with Mixed Vegetables and Roasted Tomatoes.
The beef was tender, but was bland with no taste. It was like I was eating cardboard. The mixed vegetables were way overcooked and again really bland. The tomatoes were no good. I hate leaving food behind, but I could only manage 2 bites of steak, a spoon of vegetables, and a bite of tomato. I feel bad, but I just couldn't force myself. Sometimes you can save a dish by adding seasoning like it (salt, black pepper...), but this was beyond saving!
Maxi Steak Hache / Burger, French Fries, and Roasted Tomatoes.
Nothing good here. Burger was dry. French Fries were soft. Waste of food, waste of money.
Small plate of Assorted Cold Salads.
Weird taste. Under seasoned. I had no idea what I was eating - this was assorted but the awfulness was tasted all over.
The best part of dinner is finding my own personalized Coca-Cola bottle. Weeeeee! :)
It had nothing to do with the original one.
Now, the most delicious part of dinner. ICE CREAM! Isn't it sad that it's best thing we ate and it's not homemade?! At least there was one thing we enjoyed!
Chocolate Hazelnut and Pistachio.
Raspberry and Melon.
I paid 34,80 Euros for this meal. 34,80 Euros for crap! This was not a good night.
