Tarte aux Mirabelles / Mirabelles Tart
The Mirabelle is one fruit that I appreciate cooked rather than raw. Much like Apricots and Apples. And the way I usually eat it is in a tart. I've thought of making pies, muffins, and even a mousse with my harvest, but my heart lies in a simple Tarte aux Mirabelles. It's simple, easy to make, and needs just 4 things - a pastry crust, mirabelles, a baking dish and a working oven.
Roll out a pastry crust on a baking dish. I like to line a parchment paper under the crust. Out of habit, but it works every time.
With a fork, poke all over several times.
I used the mirabelles that I cleaned and stored in the freezer.
You don't need to defrost them. You simply take them out of the freezer bag and arrange them tightly on top of the pastry crust.
Bake in a 180 degrees Celsius preheated oven for 40 minutes. Remove and let it rest. You can enjoy warm or completely cooled.
I find that this tart does not need to have any sugar added as the cooked mirabelles renders a really sweet natural syrup. This is definitely how I enjoy my mirabelles best! :)
