Fukushima - Restaurant Japonais / Japanese Restaurant in Metz, France

Worse has come to worst and Dad has been hospitalized once again today. Despite his hesitation, I urged him to go to the emergency room because I could see that he was not doing well and it's been that way for the past couple of days. I don't know if his hesitation was based on fear or denial, but I knew that I would regret it if I just did nothing. I guess my thinking wasn't too wrong as the emergency room people decided to keep him. Because the ER was busy, MR stayed with Dad, while SO and I went home. Later in the day, I was informed that Dad would be hospitalized in another cardiology-specialized establishment. As I drove the car, it started to rain hard. The tears that I would not let out of me was felt outside.

Tarte aux Quetsches

We had a little visit from LU and AR yesterday afternoon. A couple of weeks ago we received an invitation for their 50th wedding anniversary party and they were out shopping for party supplies. On the way home from the city, they thought they would come and pay us a little visit, especially for Dad. I'm always happy to have people over and our house is pretty much open anytime. I had a Tarte aux Quetsches cooling by the window that I served them and we had our afternoon coffee together. Coincidence of coincidences, LU brought with her a sachet of fresh Quetsches to give me. I don't know if they were store-bought or from her garden, but I accepted the gift with much thanks. This was MR's first time to try a Tarte aux Quetsches (or just Quetsches for that matter) and between hugs and kisses he asked if I could make one again today.

How could I refuse?! Hehehehe....

Spaghetti and Meatballs

In our family, we love love love pasta! Maybe some shapes more than others - I personally prefer spaghetti and tagliatelle over penne and macaroni (don't ask why, I don't even know LOL). You can be sure that there's a pack or 2 of pasta in my food shelf at all times. I like to get packs of 250 grams when I serve it as a side dish to my main dish and I get 500 grams when the pasta becomes my main dish. But as much as I love preparing pasta, it's not too often that I make red tomato sauce with it. Since SO was a baby, she was always hesitant to eat red-colored food. I have no idea what could have caused this, but I am told that this is just a phase. By the way this also includes chocolates and candies in red such as M&M's and Skittles. Anyways, Dad has been dropping hints about Spaghetti and Meatballs for a while now and I thought I'd make him happy. Dad has been feeling under the weather lately and truthfully, we're starting to get a lil worried. He had a big smile when he saw what I was putting down the table. Then again, he's the one who taught to make meatballs and they are deliciously moist!
