Celebrating 50 years of blissful marriage!

First of all, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! While many will argue that this is yet another hallmark-made holiday, I like to spend the day greeting friends and families. That's just me. But this isn't really a special day for MR and I because for us Valentine's day is not just on the 14th of February, but everyday. This year, my husband and I had wild plans of waking up early, spending the day working until late at night, picking up SO from my sister's, making a quick dinner, taking off all our clothes, wearing our pajamas, and going to sleep early. The best part of my day - seeing my love first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I wouldn't have it any other way.

But instead of focusing on my love story, I thought I would share with you a special occasion we celebrated last October. LU's and AR's 50th year marriage anniversary. If you follow my blog, you know that these two amazing persons are my pseudo uncle-and-aunt.

And yes, it is them in the photo above 50 years ago. When I look at them now and hear all the stories they have experienced, I can't help but tell myself that I can not imagine two people more perfect for each other than them.

And look at them now, 50 years later, the smiles and laughter haven't faded. I can only hope MR and I have that same joy de vivre with each other. They are truly an inspiration. <3

And because this is a food blog, I want to also focus on this piece of art in the photo above. This is MR's work. It took him weeks for him to produce this, from the initial design until its final conception. There were times when he thought of giving up, that it was too hard for him, but he held on. Kinda like how marriage goes, I guess. And boy were LU and AR happy that he held on because on their special day, MR gifted them with an equally special chocolate cake decorated with their faces - all done in chocolate! We thought we could eat this during the meal, but after being passed around for every guest to see and appreciate, LU quickly stored it in her freezer for a "special occasion". For their 75th anniversary, perhaps?! :)
