Spring 2015


With the current on-going heatwave, it would be hard to deny that we are in summer. It's been a couple of days now and it seems we have finally adjusted. Temperatures in the morning usually start at 25 degrees Celsius and increase up to 38 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. This is really unusual especially in the east region of France, but thankfully it seems to be getting better today. It's 5:30PM as I'm typing this and it's 31 degrees Celsius. I hope it continues to descend this week. I strongly feel that temperatures this high shouldn't exist where there isn't a beach nearby! LOL. Speaking of the sea, I can't wait to go on vacation to the south of France at the end of the month. Before leaving, I will try to update this blog as much as I can, starting with this post dedicated to the Spring we had.



Spring 2015 started with Easter Sunday lunch. I invited family over and we feasted on a White Asparagus and Smoked Salmon Salad, Navarin d'Agneau (Lamb Stew), Cheese and Green Salad, and Chocolate Mousse and Lemon Meringue Tarts.



We took advantage of the sun coming out to take walks not too far from our house.
Nature sometimes just takes my breath away.



This was taken in early Spring. A couple of weeks later these trees changed into a lovely shade of green.



We worked a lot, sometimes more than full-time, but we always made sure to take some time to enjoy and have fun.



We visited the nearby city of Nancy to enjoy their big fair, La Foire Attractive.



And then, the trees suddenly started to change their colors. Like this one from work which closely resembles the colors of the Japanese Cherry Blossoms.



It became warm enough to go to the street market on Wednesday mornings and I was happy to see some of my favorite fruits on the fruit stands.



MR and I went to Saarbrucken in Germany for the first time together. I know this isn't going to be our last - I'm already itching to go!



Sometimes I think that my trainees know how much of a foodie I am because for every last day of training I am always gifted with food and cakes or invited to the restaurant. Today was no exception and one student proudly showed off her homemade Twix Cake, made of of pastry dough, a layer of caramel, and a layer of chocolate. Yum!



And then I had good friends over for Pentecost.



I prepared for them some Rognon et Coeur de Boeuf (click here for the post), which they ate for the first time in their lives.



I've been trying to cut back my caffeine intake, but my cafe au lait for breakfast is a must.



Special thoughts for Mother's Day is always highly appreciated. Nothing in my life completes me more than being a mother and a wife.



Our town had a Family Sports Tournament. MR had to work, but SO and I enjoyed watching the games and cheering on the sideline.



The flowers were finally in bloom and were simply a joy to look at from outside my work window.



Something to think about.



I decided to come up with new ideas with the blog starting with the Kids OOTD (outfit of the day), but I'll also be featuring new products that we use in our household. This will include everything from kitchen tools, to beauty products, fashion items, and anything else I feel like sharing. I'm really excited about this!



To celebrate the end of the Spring season and the end of SO's school year, we enjoyed an afternoon on the school grounds for the end-of-the-school-year program. I was very proud of SO's class presentation which she introduced to the audience on her own.



And finally to mark the end of Spring and the beginning of Summer, I changed my phone's wallpaper from an application I downloaded. Perfect to welcome this hot season and it puts me in a happy mood every time I look at my phone!
