Pont du Gard in Vers-Pont-du-Gard, France

Confucius once said , "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it". I doubt he was talking about the Pont du Gard in France though.

Le Musée du Bonbon Haribo / Haribo Museum in Uzès, France

After driving an hour and a half, we were finally at our second stop - Le Musée du Bonbon Haribo / Haribo Museum in Uzès, France. As you can probably imagine, this stop was for our daughter, SO. Since her birthday was on the last day of our trip, MR and I decided to spoil her with surprises during the trip, including this one.

Buffet Breakfast in Premiere Classe Valence Nord

We're not generally big on breakfast - a cup of coffee or hot chocolate will usually suffice. But with the travelling we were going to do today, we agreed that it was best we had more than hot liquid in our tummy.

Overnight Stay in Premiere Classe Valence Nord in Saint-Marcel-les-Valence, France

When I was planning our holidays, the first thing I did was rent an accommodation by the beach. I looked around by the Mediterranean Sea area and finally booked a mobil-home in Le Barcares. The drive going there is about 9 hours and I knew I wouldn't be able to do it in one trip. So originally staying in Saint-Marcel-les-Valence was supposed to be a mid-way resting stop to stay the night, but when I saw that it was close to the city of Valence, I thought we could do a little visiting (click here for the post).

Valence, France

After almost 6 hours of driving, we finally arrived at our first stop - Valence. Taking the highway was easy, up until we got to Lyon where suddenly there were more cars on the road. This is after all the highway to vacation-land. Tip: if you can, try avoiding taking the highway on weekends when you're going on vacation. My niece left on a Saturday and was stuck in traffic for 3 hours. We left on a Tuesday and we had no problem concerning traffic, just the occasional reckless truck driver!

Preview: What We Did on Our Holiday

Now that we're back home I'm taking the time to settle down. MR, on the other hand, went straight to work the next day. I'm not starting work until next week, so I've been washing our clothes, cleaning the house, and setting a new rhythm. In between chores, I like to look at the photos of our trip, 1500+ of them. I can't help but smile at all the things we did. Some people think we're crazy to have done so much in such little time, but we disagree. While most of our friends and family look forward to the summer break to go somewhere, drop everything, and just relax for 1 or 2 weeks - we explored. Something new almost every day - a region, a specialty, a landmark, an activity and we loved it!

Summer Vacation 2015

We are back!!! After 13 days, travelling more than 2000 kilometers, we are finally back at home safe and sound. Which is all I hoped for because this trip was not as smooth sailing as I'd hoped it would be - I can't wait to tell you all about that! If last year, we opted for a short trip to Paris, this year we went all out with a 13-day family trip to the south of France. Our first priority was the beach - the sound of the waves, sand in our feet, the salty water, and the sun shining. It's been too long for this island family!!! But we got more than what we had bargained for. We experienced all the feelings that's possible to feel. Happiness, Fear, Anger, Hunger, Amazement, Wonder, Awe, Contentment, Surprise, Exhaustion, Sleepiness. All of this we felt and we felt it together. Because that's the thing - something happened to our family on this trip. Something definitely good. Gone were our (MR and I) once-a-day senseless fight. We took the time to talk, listen to each other, and just enjoy time. Gone was that feeling of hurriedness.
